Jude Law has taken method acting to a new extreme for his role as late-stage Henry VIII in the film Firebrand. Law commissioned a special perfume made of blood, faecal matter, and sweat to better inhabit the character. Critics have raised questions about the specifics of Law’s acting process, such as whether he used a buttock double for a revealing scene in the film.
Law’s career has been diverse, with roles in a variety of films ranging from Wilde to Captain Marvel. He has also appeared on stage in productions of Hamlet and Henry V, as well as on screen in various television and film projects.
Fans can look forward to Law’s upcoming role in the Star Wars spin-off Skeleton Crew, set to be released around Christmas. Law is known for being named after a Beatles song, turning down the chance to play Superman, and being rumored to be in the running for James Bond.
Readers have the chance to submit questions for Law, who will be interviewed next Monday for an article in Film & Music, to be published next Friday. Firebrand is currently in cinemas, giving audiences the opportunity to see Law’s immersive portrayal of Henry VIII on screen.
