A 21-year-old suspect in a shooting spree on a Kentucky highway had allegedly posted threats online, saying he planned to “kill a lot of people,” according to a warrant obtained by CBS News. The suspect, Dylan Jarrell, was arrested by police after they received a tip about his plans.
Jarrell had reportedly made the threats on a social media platform, saying he was going to “shoot up” a school and kill as many people as he could. Police were able to track him down and arrest him before he could carry out his alleged plans.
Authorities found a gun, more than 200 rounds of ammunition, a Kevlar vest, and a pair of binoculars in Jarrell’s vehicle at the time of his arrest. He was charged with making terroristic threats and harassing communications, as well as one count of “terroristic threatening” in relation to the alleged shooting plot.
The incident has raised concerns about the prevalence of online threats and the potential for violence in today’s society. Police officials emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious behavior or threats, as in this case, it led to the prevention of a potentially deadly attack.
Jarrell remains in custody, and a motive for his alleged plans has not been determined. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and determine if there were any additional individuals involved in the plot.
Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting concerning behavior to prevent potential acts of violence.
