As Francine moves inland, it weakens causing more rain to fall

Category 2 Hurricane Francine made landfall in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, with heavy rains and 100-mph winds before becoming a post-tropical cyclone. Despite the storm diminishing, over 150,000 customers were left without power in Louisiana. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry toured the impacted areas, emphasizing the importance of restoring power and urging residents to stay off the roads to allow utility workers to do their jobs. Stories of heroism emerged, such as a nurse named Miles Crawford rescuing a driver from a submerged pickup truck. The storm caused extensive damage, with flooding in New Orleans, swamped homes in Kenner, and impassable streets in Metairie. In Lafourche Parish, 26 people trapped by floodwaters were rescued. Power outages were expected to last for days, with some areas not having electricity restored until Monday night. The storm continued to pose a heavy rainfall threat in parts of Mississippi, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Georgia, potentially causing flash flooding and urban flooding. Overall, there were no reports of storm-related deaths, and efforts were being made to restore power and address the aftermath of Hurricane Francine.
