IDF Conducts ‘Targeted Strike’ on Beirut in Response to Hezbollah Rocket Attacks on Northern Israel: Middle East Crisis Unfolds Live in Lebanon

Five children were tragically killed in a southern Beirut strike carried out by Israeli jets, according to a report by William Christou. The strike targeted a building in the Dahieh neighborhood and resulted in casualties being rushed to the scene by ambulances. The attack, which took place at rush hour, left rubble and burned-out cars on the street, with smoke billowing out of a building near the al-Qaem mosque.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported at least five children were killed in the strike, with more casualties expected as paramedics arrived on the scene. The strike was near a Hezbollah facility, according to a Lebanese security source. This attack marks the third time Beirut has been hit by an Israeli airstrike since the fighting began between Hezbollah and Israel.

The Israeli military referred to the strike as a “targeted airstrike,” emphasizing that there was “no change in the home front command’s instructions.” The strike occurred two days after a larger attack that left over 3,000 injured and at least 42 dead. Hezbollah and Lebanon have accused Israel of being behind the attacks, with tensions escalating as Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed to retaliate.

As the conflict intensifies, the UK government is scrutinizing contingency plans to evacuate remaining Britons from Lebanon, following the Foreign Office’s warning for British nationals to leave the country due to rising tensions. The situation in the region remains volatile, with conflicting reports on the exact number of rockets fired from Lebanon and continued violence between Hezbollah and Israel.
