In August, Billionaires Contributed Millions to Presidential Super PACs

In August, wealthy donors across the nation contributed millions to super PACs supporting various political candidates and parties, as reported to the Federal Election Commission. Notable donations included Wisconsin roofing billionaire Diane Hendricks giving $10 million to the super PAC backing former President Donald Trump, MAGA Inc. Howard Lutnick and Paul Singer also contributed $5 million each to the same group.

On the Democratic side, tech entrepreneurs were the top donors to FF PAC, a super PAC supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. Facebook and Asana co-founder Dustin Moskovitz gave $3 million, while Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings and Twilio co-founder Jeff Lawson and his wife, Erica, each donated $1 million.

Super PACs like MAGA Inc. and FF PAC are popular among wealthy donors due to the lack of donation limits compared to campaign committees. Club for Growth Action, a conservative super PAC supporting GOP candidates, received $5 million donations from Jeff Yass and Richard Uihlein in August, both known as major Republican donors. On the Democratic side, House Majority PAC received $600,000 from Amos Hostetter Jr., a frequent donor to anti-Trump groups.

Overall, the August reports highlighted the significant financial contributions from wealthy individuals to super PACs supporting various political causes and candidates, indicating their continued influence in shaping the political landscape.
