Democrats are planning to launch a new messaging campaign to persuade Donald Trump to debate again by calling him a “chicken” for refusing to participate. The campaign will include static and mobile billboards as well as a staffer dressed as a chicken who will appear at Trump’s campaign events. Despite Trump saying he will not participate in another debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, Harris has accepted an invitation to debate on CNN on October 23. Trump has reiterated his decision not to debate again, citing that voting has already begun in some states. The Democratic National Committee highlighted that in the 2020 election cycle, Biden and Trump debated after early voting had started. The Trump campaign has not responded to the Democrats’ new campaign. Harris and Trump had their first and only debate this cycle in Philadelphia, where they discussed various issues such as immigration, inflation, and abortion. While Trump also debated President Joe Biden earlier in the cycle, he has made it clear that he will not be participating in any more debates.
