Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, 41, was arrested in downtown Franklin, Tennessee following a minor crash. He was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun under the influence, failure to exercise due care, and implied consent. Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle and attempted to flee after offering $2,000 to avoid involving the police. Police officers observed that he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, was swaying, staggering, and slurring his words. Cutler refused to perform a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. A search of his car revealed a rifle in the backseat and a loaded handgun in the center console.
Cutler was booked into Williamson County Jail and released on $5,000 bond with conditions that he does not drive without an ignition interlock device or while under the influence. Cutler, a former NFL player known for his time with the Chicago Bears, was also married to reality TV star Kristin Cavallari until their divorce in 2020. The couple shares three children and appeared in the reality show “Very Cavallari,” which premiered in 2018. A representative for Cutler did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the arrest.
