The autopsy report confirmed that Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, died at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. The report revealed that Payne died of polytrauma and internal and external bleeding, with 25 injuries consistent with a fall from height. Investigators believe he was alone at the time of the fall and was likely under the influence of alcohol and drugs. There were no defensive injuries on his body, suggesting the injuries were vital and not caused by a third party. Polytrauma is defined as multiple traumatic injuries involving multiple organs or systems. Authorities responded to a 911 call made by hotel staff reporting a guest under the influence of drugs and alcohol destroying objects in their room before Payne’s death. The guest, later identified as Payne, was seen exhibiting aggressive behavior before his fall. Investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of third parties in the events leading up to his death. Payne died at Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and autopsy results indicated he was likely in a state of unconsciousness when he fell from the balcony.
