Tech billionaire Elon Musk stated during a town hall event in Oaks, Pennsylvania that he believes all voting should be done in person on paper with identification, to avoid potential voter fraud. This is despite the fact that Musk himself has voted by mail in past elections. Musk has also supported a pro-Trump super PAC that promotes mail-in and absentee voting. At the event, Musk promoted a debunked conspiracy theory about Dominion Voting Systems rigging elections. He also discussed various topics, including the false claim that Democrats are bringing immigrants without legal status into swing states to vote. Musk encouraged people to post evidence of voter fraud or irregularities on his social media app X for verification. He also made jokes about government workers in relation to the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021. Musk’s statements and behavior during the event have raised questions about his consistency and credibility on voting issues, as well as the validity of the conspiracy theories he promotes.
