A new video released by Ukrainian officials allegedly shows North Korean soldiers receiving Russian military fatigues, indicating their involvement in the conflict in Ukraine. The video, published by Ukraine’s Centre for Strategic Communications and Information Security, shows North Korean soldiers lining up to collect bags and clothes from Russian servicemen. The head of the centre, Ihor Solovey, stated that the video provides evidence of North Korea participating in the war on the side of Russia, not only with weapons but also with personnel.
This release follows claims by the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, that around 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are currently training in eastern Russia and may join frontline fighting in Ukraine by November. Budanov expressed concern about the need for additional weapons to combat the increased number of soldiers. The presence of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine would demonstrate deepening military ties between Russia and North Korea, as they have signed a strategic partnership treaty committing to provide military assistance.
