Five people, including three children, were killed in a shooting in Washington state on Monday. The incident took place in Fall City, about 25 miles east of Seattle. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the Lake Alice Road neighborhood. Three children and two adults were killed, and a juvenile suspect was taken into custody. It is unclear what relationship, if any, the suspect had with the victims.
A person in their mid-teens was hospitalized as a result of the shooting. The suspect is expected to be booked into jail and could face charges of first-degree or second-degree murder. The King County Sheriff’s Office stated that there was no known history of prior police activity at the residence where the shooting occurred.
The children involved in the incident did not attend schools in the Snoqualmie Valley School District. However, counselors and support staff will be available for those who may need assistance in coping with the tragedy. The superintendent of the district, Dan Schlotfeldt, acknowledged that such events can have a profound impact on students and the community as a whole.
