An 8-year-old girl in Colorado fought off an intruder wearing a clown mask who tried to kidnap her during a late-night break-in at her family’s home. Thomas Gallegos, the girl’s neighbor, was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, assault, child abuse, and burglary. Gallegos had helped the family install a washer and dryer two days before the incident.
According to court documents, Gallegos allegedly entered the girl’s room, blindfolded her, and struck her in the head when she fought back, leaving her unconscious. The girl’s injuries included a contusion to her eye and a laceration to the back of her head that required staples. A clown mask and gloves were found in the girl’s room.
Investigators identified Gallegos as the suspect through surveillance video and location data from the girl’s phone, which he had taken. Gallegos initially denied the allegations but his wife confirmed he was the person seen in the surveillance video wearing dark clothes and carrying a clown mask.
During an interview with police, Gallegos refused to answer further questions after denying his involvement. There is no information available on whether he has obtained legal representation. The investigation is ongoing, and Gallegos faces multiple charges in connection with the incident.
