Kentucky State Representative, Danny Bentley, tragically passed away on Monday, just weeks after a terrifying accident in which his lawnmower plunged into a swimming pool on his property.
The incident occurred on June 29 when Bentley was cutting the grass near the edge of his pool. The lawnmower accidentally slipped into the water, causing Bentley to become trapped underneath. He was rescued by his son and flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.
Despite initially showing signs of improvement, Bentley eventually succumbed to his injuries. The cause of death has not been officially released.
Bentley, a Republican from Russell, was well-known for his dedication to public service and had served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2017. He was highly respected by his colleagues on both sides of the aisle and was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his constituents.
Governor Andy Beshear expressed his condolences, stating, “Danny was a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about his community and the people he represented. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”
Bentley’s passing has left a void in the Kentucky legislature, with many mourning the loss of a beloved colleague and friend. His family has asked for privacy during this difficult time as they mourn his death.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced, but colleagues and community members are expected to come together to remember and honor Bentley’s life and legacy.
