Ex-CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, Mike Jeffries, denies allegations of sex trafficking

Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries and an alleged accomplice, James Jacobson, pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and interstate prostitution charges. They are accused of operating an international sex trafficking and prostitution business from 2008 to 2015, organizing sex events around the world. Victims, mostly aspiring models, were coerced into engaging in commercial sex acts with the promise of career opportunities in the fashion industry. The trio employed deceptive tactics and paid staff to facilitate and supervise these events. They also used a security company to intimidate and silence victims who threatened exposure. The operation utilized burner phones for communication and spent millions on the enterprise. Some victims were paid in cash amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Witnesses have been identified to testify against Jeffries, Smith, and Jacobson. Authorities became aware of the operation through media reports, including a BBC report that detailed allegations of exploitation at sex parties hosted by Jeffries. Abercrombie & Fitch distanced itself from Jeffries following the report. Jeffries was CEO of Abercrombie from 1992 to 2014, during which the company faced criticism for discriminatory practices and was sued for sexual abuse allegations. Despite the legal challenges, Jeffries oversaw significant financial success for the brand. A civil suit against Jeffries and Abercrombie remains unresolved, alleging he manipulated men with modeling opportunities for abuse.
