A family-owned stable in Bar Elias, Lebanon, has become a refuge for purebred Arabian horses rescued from Israeli bombings in South Lebanon. Amidst the destruction and chaos of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the stable is providing care and attention to the traumatised and wounded horses, many of whom have lost weight and suffered injuries during the attacks. The employees of the stable, led by Jaafar Araji, are working around the clock to nurse the horses back to health, despite the lack of reliable veterinarians and difficulties in obtaining feed during wartime.
The Araji family, who have a long history of breeding and caring for Arabian purebreds, are determined to provide a safe haven for these war survivors, even at their own expense. The stable not only serves as a sanctuary for the rescued horses, but also hosts a riding academy for children during the day. The love and passion for horses run deep in the Araji family, with Zakaria Araji stating that they will do whatever it takes to care for these innocent animals caught in the crossfire of the conflict.
As the Israeli bombardments continue to ravage South Lebanon, it remains uncertain whether the horses will ever return to their homes. But for now, the Araji stable stands as a symbol of resilience and compassion in the face of adversity, providing hope and healing to both the horses and the community.
