Governor of Kentucky urges Rep. Daniel Grossberg to step down

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is urging State Representative Daniel Grossberg to resign following allegations of harassment. The House Democratic Caucus had previously called for an ethics investigation into Grossberg, with reports surfacing in the Lexington Herald-Leader outlining misconduct at a strip club in Louisville. The club’s owner confirmed the claims, stating that Grossberg behaved inappropriately towards workers and made threats when banned from the establishment.

Several individuals, including transgender activist Emma Curtis and Kentucky Young Democrats President Allison Wiseman, have also come forward with allegations of misconduct by Grossberg. Beshear expressed support for potential victims, emphasizing the need to address abuse of power and harassment. Grossberg’s attorney denied the allegations, stating that he intends to continue serving constituents and looks forward to refuting the claims during a legislative ethics inquiry.

In response, Grossberg issued an apology to those who may have felt uncomfortable due to his actions and stated that he is undergoing treatment to address his behavior. Despite calls for resignation, Grossberg has not indicated a willingness to step down, leaving impeachment as the only option for removal. The Kentucky Democrats have echoed calls for Grossberg to resign, citing his alleged actions as evidence of his unfitness to represent the state’s 30th House District. The situation continues to evolve as the investigation progresses.
