The Minnesota State men’s basketball team faced off against Kentucky in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena, falling to the Wildcats with a score of 98-67. The Mavericks will now open their regular season against Florida Southern in the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic. Junior Malcolm Jones and graduate student Drew Daniel were standout players for Minnesota State in the game. Despite a strong effort in the second half, the Mavericks were unable to overcome the Wildcats’ lead. Jaxson Robinson led all scorers with 24 points for Kentucky. Both teams put up a solid shooting performance, with Kentucky shooting 53.6% from the field and Minnesota State shooting 39.1%. The Mavericks will now look to bounce back in their upcoming games.
