Angela Waninger, the Director of Finance and Support Services for the City of Owensboro, has been honored as the 2024 Finance Officer of the Year by the Kentucky Government Finance Officers Association. Waninger expressed gratitude for the award and credited her colleagues for their support. The KGFOA President, Steve Webb, praised Waninger for her dedication and leadership in her role.
Waninger’s responsibilities include overseeing the City’s finance, human resources, and IT operations, as well as working on projects for the city manager. She holds certifications as a CPA and a CGMA and is actively involved in various organizations, including serving as president of the Kentucky Government Finance Officers Association. Waninger also volunteers her time as a budget award reviewer for the National Government Finance Officer Association and is actively engaged in her community through various roles and responsibilities.
In addition to being named Finance Officer of the Year, Waninger was recognized as one of the “2023 Notable Women in Kentucky Politics and Government” by The Kentucky Gazette. Her commitment to excellence and outstanding contributions to the field of finance have earned her this prestigious award. Waninger’s dedication to her work, as well as her involvement in various professional and community organizations, reflect her passion for serving her community and making a positive impact.
