London’s Lifestyle Home Show opened with a positive outlook for the housing industry in the city, fueled by lower interest rates and the upcoming launch of a new rebate program for home improvements. The show, featuring over 350 booths from construction and renovation companies, is expected to attract around 10,000 people over the weekend.
Jared Zaifman, CEO of the London Home Builders’ Association, noted a renewed excitement this year compared to the challenges faced in the previous year. The Ontario government recently announced a rebate program covering up to 30% of energy efficiency renovations, such as new windows, doors, insulation, and more. Energy Minister Stephen Lecce highlighted the upfront and long-term savings this program will offer to homeowners.
Curtis Godick of Builders Choice Air Systems believes the rebate program will incentivize homeowners to invest in energy conservation projects. The program, although similar to one previously cancelled by the government, is more inclusive and has a longer commitment.
Overall, the housing industry in London is looking forward to a boost in renovation projects and new home builds with the support of lower interest rates and the new rebate program. The show serves as a platform for companies to showcase their products and services, while also informing homeowners about the benefits of energy efficiency upgrades.
