This marks the first time Pope Francis has been photographed since his hospitalization

Pope Francis was recently photographed at the hospital for the first time since being admitted last month for double pneumonia. The 88-year-old pope participated in a Holy Mass at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital and his condition remains stable. He has been receiving motor and respiratory physiotherapy as part of his therapy, and has been able to do some work and is making progress in his recovery. Francis recently marked the 12th anniversary of his election as pope while in the hospital and participated virtually in a spiritual retreat. He was admitted to the hospital on Feb. 14 due to a respiratory infection that developed into double pneumonia. Despite initial concerns, he is no longer in imminent danger of death and has shown improvements in his condition. However, doctors are still being cautious about his overall fragility and he will remain hospitalized for further recovery.
