After facing brutal defeats in the first two games of their weekend series against Auburn, the Kentucky Wildcats managed to salvage Game 3 with a dominant 6-0 win at Kentucky Proud Park. The Wildcats received a stellar pitching performance from Ben Cleaver, Evan Byers, and Tommy Skelding, who combined to shut down the Tigers’ offense and secure the much-needed victory. Cleaver started the game, Byers earned the win, and Skelding notched his first career save.
Kentucky’s offense got off to a blazing start, scoring five runs in the first inning to provide ample run support for their pitchers. Patrick Herrera led the Wildcats at the plate with two hits and two runs scored, while Devin Burkes contributed two RBIs. In contrast, Auburn’s starting pitcher, Christian Chatterton, lasted only one-third of an inning after giving up five runs.
Kentucky’s win was a much-needed morale boost after the tough losses in the first two games of the series. The Wildcats will look to carry that momentum into their next game against Xavier on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.
