Sheridan Dirk Fogle, 54, has been charged with murder after the remains of Penni Whiteside were found buried in the yard of a South Carolina home. Whiteside, 51, had been missing for two years and was last seen on May 11, 2022. She had been living with Fogle at the time, although the nature of their relationship is unclear. After receiving information from neighbors, police discovered Whiteside’s body buried under a firepit in the backyard of the home. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
Fogle was arrested and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, where he remains held without bail. It is unknown if he has legal representation at this time or when his next court appearance will be. The Myrtle Beach Police Department described Whiteside’s death as a senseless crime of violence and asked for prayers for her family and friends. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further details have not been released.
