The Kentucky River Honors Band, consisting of students from several counties, recently performed at the Hal Rogers Forum in Hazard. This group, established in 2023 to bring students together after a devastating flood in 2022, aims to build community through music. Band Director Bobby Shouse emphasized the importance of providing opportunities like these for kids, stating that the focus is always on the students. The event was a success, with participants enjoying themselves and looking forward to future events. Sponsored by the Appalachian Arts Alliance, the band plans to continue organizing similar performances in the future. This initiative showcases the power of music in bringing people together and fostering a sense of unity within the community.
